School of Media and Communication Alumni hosts
Larry Izamoje
Seasoned
broadcaster, sports analyst and founder of Brilla FM, Larry Izamoje is the
guest speaker at the first alumni seminar of the School of Media and
Communication Alumni Association (SMCAA) for the year 2012.
Scheduled
to hold on Saturday, April 28, 2012, the alumni seminar tagged, “The Impact of
Sports Broadcasting on Sports Administration in Nigeria”, will showcase the broadcast
of sports as a high impact communication and social mobilisation tool that can
still be optimally leveraged to enhance the role being played by sports
administration in nation building.
Izamoje
will speak to alumni and students of the School of Media and Communications, of
the Pan African University, as well as invited guests at the seminar. The goal of
the seminar is to strengthen the existing synergy between sports broadcasting
and administration in the country. The SMCAA recognises the crucial role that
sports can play in national development if propaganda and profiteering are
eliminated in the corridors of sports broadcasting and administration.
Bayero
Agabi, Vice President, School of Media and Communication Alumni Association, said
that the seminar will provide members of the alumni with a platform to network
and also learn from the repository of knowledge of Larry Izamoje, an astute
entrepreneur and broadcast journalist, who has added a deep dimension to sports
journalism in Nigeria. "We at SMCAA see the Alumni Seminar as a focal
point for alumni to integrate what they have learnt from the School of Media
and Communication and combine that experience with the knowledge of the guest
speaker to be able to function effectively as professionals and entrepreneurs
in the society." he said.
End.
