Land buying tips

Land buying tips

Want to buy land? Scared of dubious land speculators and land grabbers? Not to worry. Follow these simple tips to own your land without fear of land speculators and at the best bargain.

Do not patronize touts or individuals posing as landowners or middlemen. Do not be swayed by their slick sales talk and empty guarantee. Patronizing them may mean losing your hard earned cash.

Consult and acquire land through only certified real estate brokers or agents. They will guide you through all that is involved in land acquisition.

Investigate the land. Visit the site, walk round it and ask questions within the locality. You need to be sure that you are not purchasing a contentious property or a government land.

Before closing any land deal, run a check at the land registry or bureau in your state. This has saved a whole lot of people a lot of stress.

Carry out a charting of the plots at the Surveyor-General’s office and obtain a Land Information Certificate.

Follow the golden rule of investments. Beware of very cheap land deals and attempts to make you close the deal fast. As with all investments, the golden rule is, if it sounds too good to be true, it is probably too good to be true. Except you are dealing with a certified real estate broker.
