Guide for buying on the Internet

Return policy, Internet shopper’s guide

You can only return items or products purchased from sellers that have a return policy. If there is need for you to do that, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Contact seller: it is important that you contact the seller by phone or email, indicating why you want to return the item in question.

  1. Product details: you have to let the seller know the specific item you want to return and the price.

  1. Return authorization: before returning a purchased item to a seller, get authorization to do so from the seller. This guarantees an exchange, total or partial refund, from the seller.

  1. Shipping charge: be sure about who pays return shipping. You or the seller? Check seller’s return policy for details.

  1. Maintain original package: some items come with original package and cannot be returned without the original packaging. Return items in their original package.

  1. Return address: Use return address and RMA number (if any) supplied by the merchant.

  1. Be prompt: want to return purchased item? Be prompt. Do not let the time limit specified for return by the seller elapse before returning item.

  1. Last word: specially ordered or customized items may not be returnable at all, or if returnable, may be eligible for partial refund.
